Cosmote Romania, 70% owned by Cosmote Greece and 30% by the country’s largest landline operator Romtelecom, re-launched its operations on the local market in December 2005, when its client portfolio included less than 50,000 users.
Cosmote is majority owned by Greek OTE Group, which operates in Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania and Macedonia.
OTE owns a 54.01% stake in Romtelecom, while Romania owns 45.99%.
Cosmote Romania doubled its revenues in 2008, to EUR311 million, and reported positive operating income before depreciation and amortization (OIBDA) for the first time since launch on the Romanian market.
