According to data from the agency, 20 companies announced the layoff of a total 2,730 people, with the highest number of layoffs performed at the company Rolem SA, where one thousand employees will lose their jobs in February.
A total number of 878 people will be laid off in January and 1,852 in February. In January 352 employees will be laid off at chemical plant Nitroporps Fagaras (the former Nitramonia platform), added with another several hundred people at companies such as Marub SA (13 persoane), Again & Again (63 people), Multiref SRL (47 people), Coriv SRL (88 employees), Doripesco Prod SRL (60 employees), Fabrica de Scule Rasnov (45 employees), A.T.A. Group (35 employees), Kronmat (26 employees), Dinometal Prod (23 employees), Instrig SA (70 people), Bratim SA (14 people) and Mecon SA (42 people).
In February, there will be layoffs at Rolem SA – 1,000 people, Belart SRL – 37 people, Romradiatoare SA – 95 people, Viromet SA – 296 people, Electroprecizia SA – 229 people, Marub Industry – 70 people and Fabrica de Scule Risnov – 12 people.
The employees dismissed will receive unemployment aid, in accordance with Law 76/2002 on the welfare system and the stimulation of employment.
The Brasov county employment agency registry currently holds 51 vacant jobs for 38 specialties. Only eight of these vacant jobs require higher education.
In December 2008, 530 employees were laid off in Brasov county, including the last 66 employees of Colgate Palmolive.
