The announcement is due to be made at 18:00 local time, according to the aforementioned sources.
This would come almost two months after Toader started the assessment on August 25, following the leak of a secret protocol signed between the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Romanian Intelligence Service on judicial cooperation in late 2016.
The general prosecutor stated that the protocol was relinquished by both institutions shortly after it was signed, and did not make any effects.
Following a similar evaluation launched in February, Toader requested and eventually gained the dismissal of top anticorruption prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi, after the Constitutional Court obliged President Klaus Iohannis to heed the minister’s recommendation and dismiss her from office, despite initially deciding against the move.
