Romanian 1Q GDP +8.2% On Yr Vs +6% Yr Ago

Romania’s gross domestic product growth accelerated to 8.2% in real terms in the first quarter of 2008, compared with 6% in the corresponding period a year before, the National Statistical Institute, or INS, said Monday.

The INS said that the GDP value was estimated at 86.74 billion lei (EUR1=RON 3.6213) in the first quarter of the year.

Romania’s statistics institute is expected to release GDP details Thursday, June 5.
