Ricochet Hits Police Woman In Brasov Confrontation, C. Romania
Two patrolling officers with Brasov Precinct 1 were in a mission Friday night to prevent possible violence activities in high-risk locations, such as discothèques, bars and clubs, police spokesman Liviu Naghi said.
“(…) the police officers saw four men and four women outside a restaurant who were drunk and were disturbing public order. The police officers intervened to restore order, and three men from the group physically and verbally assaulted the woman police officer. She was attacked by one of the men, later identified as C. Vasile, age 24, who hit her and pushed her to the ground,” Naghi said.
The second police officer ordered the offender to stop, and when the offender failed to comply, he fired a warning shot.
The offender refused to cease attacks and the police officer shot him in the leg.
“The bullet ricocheted off the offender’s leg and injured the woman police officer,” Naghi said.
Both the offender and the woman police officer were transported to the County Hospital in Brasov.
The men involved in the confrontation are under arrest, pending investigation.
