Economy and finance minister Varujan Vosganian said Monday that gift vouchers would be granted within the legal limits stipulated in the state budget law or within local authorities’ own revenues. He also said the ordinance would be amended, not repealed.

Over 2,000 pre-university teachers in Bucharest rallied Wednesday in front of the government headquarters demanding that the measure be repealed.

Gift vouchers are bonuses offered to employees on special occasions such as Easter or Christmas. The value of one gift voucher is RON10 or multiple of 10, but does not exceed RON50.
