Romanian football legend and coach Gheorghe Hagi ranks 35th in a classification of the world’s best footballers in the past 100 years, compiled by the Association of Football Statistics, published by British daily The Sun.

Romania’s Gheorghe Popescu ranks 81th in the same classification.
The world’s best footballer is Brazil’s Pele, followed by fellow countrymen Ronaldo and Romario. Portugal’s Luis Figo came in fourth, while France’s Zinedine Zidane secured the fifth spot.
Argentinean legend Diego Maradona came in sixth, followed by Lothar Matthaus, Gerd Muller and Franz Beckenbauer, while another Brazilian, Cafu, completes the top ten.
