Raiffeisen Bank Romania May Reschedule Up To 2,500 Loans

Raiffeisen Bank Romania plans to reschedule 2,000 to 2,500 loans, currently analyzing 250 cases, the bank’s president Steven van Groningen told MEDIAFAX on Monday.

He said the bank’s 20 branches specialized in granting real estate loans would be transformed into centers offering consultancy for different loan restructuring issues, but they would also keep their mortgage lending activity.
 
According to him, there are less loan reschedule requests coming from companies compared with natural persons, but their value is higher.
 
"In the large clients case, the loan rescheduling usually means a collaboration with several banks. It is a more complex process that lasts longer (…) There are cases in which a company has a profitable activity, but its owner invested the money in real estate and got it blocked," van Groningen said.
 
At rescheduling a corporate loan, the lender asks for an evaluation report from a foreign consultant who knows very well the debtor’s domain of activity.
