Romanian Dacia Car Factory To Produce Up To 150,000 Duster Units

The maximum production capacity of Dacia Duster is 150,000 units in Romania, while the factories in Brazil and Russia will be able to supply up to 100,000 and 80,000 cars, respectively, Renault Entry program director Gerard Detourbet said Wednesday.

Romanian carmaker Dacia will launch the Duster model, in two versions, 4X2 and 4X4, in Europe, Turkey, Algeria and Morocco in spring next year, while starting with June 2010 the model will be launched under the Renault brand in Ukraine, the Middle East and Africa, the company announced Tuesday.

Dacia Duster will be available in the versions 4X2 and 4X4, with one 1.6 cylinder capacity and 110 hp gasoline engine as well as two diesel engines – one with 1.5 cylinder capacity 85 hp, and one with 1.5 cylinder capacity and 105 hp.

The model will have low fuel consumption, according to the constructor, namely the diesel cars will emit less than 140g CO2/km for the 4X2 version and less than 150g CO2/km for the 4X4 version.

The is the sixth model in the Dacia range, after Sandero, Logan, Logan MCV and the utility vehicles Logan VAN and Logan Pick-Up.
