Boc told a news conference that the Government will not provide assistance to those who built their homes in areas with a high risk of floods and assumed responsibility for this risk by signing a written agreement.
„These citizens will receive a modular home at the most, but not money or construction materials”, added Boc.
Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc visited Sunday the heavily flood-hit village of Zamostea, in Suceava county, where he talked to local flood evacuees and promised them their homes would be rebuilt before winter.
Basescu said Friday that this is the last year the state will provide construction materials to flood victims and urged the people affected by the floods to insure their homes.
During the past few days, Boc and Romanian President Traian Basescu have visited several towns and villages affected by the recent floods, in the counties of Suceava, Botosani, Bacau and Galati. Boc and Basescu talked with the locals, promising them dams would be built and victims would receive flood relief.
Twenty-three people have died in the severe floods that hit Romania over the past two weeks and thousands have been evacuated from their homes.
