Baconschi said he is confident Moldova will accept the new ambassador.
Lazurca is currently Romania's ambassador to the Vatican, a position Baconschi himself held between 1997 and 2001.
In April 2009, Moldova rejected Romania's proposed ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu, after expelling the previous ambassador, Filip Teodorescu, on April 7 on the backdrop of anticommunist protests that took a violent turn in the Moldovan capital.
Moldovan interim President Mihai Ghimpu said on January 12 that Romania's new ambassador to Chisinau might be accredited before Romanian President Traian Basescu's visit to Chisinau on January 27 and 28.
