Romania, Bulgaria To Ask EP Support For Schengen Area Accession – Bulgarian PM
The two heads of government met at the Danube Summit held in Bucharest.
Borisov said he is optimistic about the two countries’ joint efforts towards Schengen Area accession. He also said Hungarian President Viktor Orban’s attendance at the Danube Summit was important, given that Hungary is slated to take over the Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2011.
The Danube Summit brings together 22 delegations comprising the heads of government of the 14 states on the Danube basin, European Commission officials, representatives of six riparian German and Austrian lands, the city of Ulm, Germany, and Poland as observer.
The meeting is held in the Palace of Parliament, Bucharest, under the patronage of the President of Romania.
