Romania Calls For Preferential Access Of Its Workers To Western Europe Labor Mkt
According to the Romanian Ministry of Administration and Interior, Nica will go to Stockholm Wednesday, July 15, to attend the informal Reunion of the Justice and Home Affairs Council. The reunion will focus on issues targeting tighter cooperation at the level of police forces, as well as immigration and asylum control, in the fallout of approving the future Stockholm Program in the field of justice and home affairs for the 2010-2014 period.
"Romania’s delegation will uphold the need to carry on the steps taken at European Union level, mainly with respect to a tighter cooperation between law-enforcement bodies in EU member states through exchange of good practices and information," the ministry said.
The ministry also said Romanian officials will request that a provision on Romania and Bulgaria’s accession to the Schengen Area in March 2011 be included in the Stockholm program, as well as a reference on observing the principle of community preference (preferential access of Romanian workers to the labor market in Western European countries).
