Romanian Social Democrats Eye Scrapping Coalition With Democrat Liberals- Sources

Romanian social-democrats said Theodor Stolojan’s decision to quit the cabinet and Emil Boc’s nomination for the premier office prove that the democrat liberals “tricked” them, stressing they are considering scrapping the protocol and regulation they signed with the democrat-liberals, social democrat sources said Monday.

Several social democrat officials think that any step forward alongside democrat liberals is a “dangerous game” to play.

The social democrats said the initial agreement with the democrat liberals stipulated that a democrat liberal vice-president, Theodor Stolojan, not the party president himself, Emil Boc, would be designated for the premier office.

The social democrats highlighted that Stolojan’s withdrawal and Boc’ nomination simply discredits them, since social democrat leader Mircea Geoana does not have the opportunity to rejoice a similar position, the same sources said.
