Romania Council Overseeing Securitate Files To Carry On Activity-PM
The Romanian executive will issue an ordinance allowing the National Council in charge with overseeing the files of former communist secret police, or CNSAS, to carry on its activity, Premier Calin Popescu Tariceanu said Monday.

He said the government will afterward approve an emergency ordinance that will consider Constitutional Court’s decision regarding CNSAS.
The Constitutional Court last week ruled that the law setting up CNSAS is unconstitutional.
Following the decision, several Romanian NGOs protested in Bucharest on Sunday, requested the Constitutional Court judges be dismissed. They also asked for the dismissal of the Ombudsman, as he failed to represent the people’s interest in the case.
