The minister added that European Union legislation does not make explicit reference to dietary supplements.

The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) and National Anti-Doping Agency will be tasked with inspecting the content and quality of dietary supplements on the Romanian market, as well as checking whether the packaging observes labeling legislation.

The two bodies called on the Government to develop a unitary law on the sale and use of dietary supplements, and signed a cooperation protocol on April 6 to ensure stricter controls.
