Romania’s national football team defeated on Wednesday 6-1 Albania’s team and thus qualified on first place of the Euro 2008 Group G.

Romania scored through N. Dică '22, '71 (penalties), Tamas '53, D. Niculae '63, '66, Marica '68 (penalty), while Kapllani '64 scored for Albania.
A team of referees from Croatia umpired the game with Edo Trivkovici as lead referee.
Roland Beck (Liechtenstein) and Ellert Schram (Island) were assigned by UEFA to observe the game.
Before the game and at half time world boxing champion Lucian Bute went in the locker room of the Romanian team, probably to show his support.
Romania skipper Cristian Chivu had a muscular lesion and missed the game. Adrian Mutu and Banel Nicolita also failed to play in the team’s final Euro 2008 qualifier.
Romania- Albania was the last game to be played on National Stadium Lia Manoliu as the arena is to be demolished.
Princess Margaret and Prince Radu, actor Marcel Iures, Vasile Turcu, shareholder of FC Dinamo, the technical manager of FC Rapid Nicolae Manea as well as officials of the Romanian Football Federation attended the game.
