Doctors will also sign the frame contract on the provision of healthcare services in 2009 and patients will continue to benefit from prescriptions of compensated and free medicine, as well as medical prescribing to see other specialists and go to hospital.
Health minister Ion Bazac said the value of the point per capita was set at 4.1 and the value per service at 1.5 and added that both values will remain unchanged by yearend.
Bazac also said, with respect to primary healthcare services provided in emergency medical units, that this aspect would be regulated through a separate law, which will be drafted next week.
The ministry has EUR5 million at disposal in 2009 to pay doctors working in emergency medical units.
At the end of last week, family doctors countrywide threatened to seal their cabinets as of April 1, for an unlimited period.
Family doctors previously refused to sign the frame contract, saying it leaves out their proposals and includes stipulations that breach both their rights and the Constitution.
The 2009 frame contract comes into force on April 1 and obliges hospitals to post their expenses on the ministry’s website and family doctors to work overtime in emergency medical units.
