Hydrologists Issue Flood Warning For Rivers In W, SW Romania

Romanian hydrologists on Tuesday issued a code yellow warning for increased flows on several rivers in the country’s western and southwestern regions, valid from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday afternoon.

The advisory targets the basins of the rivers Crasna, Crisul Negru, Crisul Alb, Bega, Timis, Barzava, Moravita, Caras, Nera, Olt (middle and lower), Arges (higher and tributaries).

The areas at risk of flooding are located in counties Arad, Alba, Arges, Bihor, Buzau, Brasov, Covasna, Cluj, Caras-Severin, Dambovita, Dolj, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Mures, Mehedinti, Olt, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Salaj, Timis and Valcea.

On Sunday, meteorologists issued a code yellow storm warning, valid from Monday morning until Tuesday. According to the advisory, heavy rain, wind and hail will affect 23 counties in western and southwestern Romania.
