People close to the matter said last week the government would urge the Parliament to adopt the draft law on the unitary public pensions until the end of May, at the latest.
IMF mission head Jeffrey Franks said Tuesday the International Monetary Fund and the European Commission reached an agreement with the Romanian authorities on the content of laws regulating public pensions and fiscal responsibility.
Franks also said the current pension system is unbalanced and stressed the need to adopt the unitary pension law in the first half of 2010.
Romania should have been approved the unitary public pension law until the end of 2009.
