Romania Inflation Rate Flat at 3.3% in January

Romanians paid 3.7% more for food items in January compared with January 2018, while non-food prices grew 3.29%, and service prices grew 2.7%.

Compared with December 2018, January food prices grew 1.3%, non-food prices grew 0.6%, and service prices grew 0.57%.

Earlier this week, the central bank raised its year-end inflation forecast for 2019 to 3% from a previous forecast of 2.9%.

Romania’s central bank targets inflation at 2.5% a year, with a variation band of one percentage point.
