Romania Informs EC On Progress In Agriculture Payments System

The Romanian Ministry of Agriculture on Thursday sent a report to the European Commission on the progresses in the country’s agricultural payments system, to avoid sanctions from Brussels.

Romania’s Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture, or APIA, said the soft module designed to authorize and compute the level of EU cash has been testing and found functional, mentioning the final instructions will be introduced on November 15.

It said the many errors that have occurred in the land registration system, which were flagged during audit missions by EU experts, have been fully corrected.

In October, EC gave Romania one month to improve the aid systems for farmers, otherwise it risks a 25-percent provisional cut of farm subsidies from the European Union.
