Romania July Inflation Rate Highest In EU27
Romania reported the highest annual inflation rate in the European Union in July, followed closely by neighbor Hungary, EU’s statistics agency Eurostat said Friday.

Eurostat’s preliminary estimates indicated Romania’s July annual inflation stood at 5%, while Hungary and Poland came in next with annual rates of 4.9% and 4.5%, respectively.
In the EU27 bloc, the annual inflation rate in July was of 0.2%, while the monthly inflation was -0.5%.
As to 12-month averages up to July 2009, Romania reported the third highest rate, of 6.6%.
Latvia and Lithuania posted the first two highest averages, of 8.8% and 7.8%, respectively.
