Against the US dollar, the leu’s indicative shed over 1% to 3.1135 units, from 3.0817 units a day earlier.
The leu opened flat at 4.301 per euro and further lost ground, amid low volumes. It hit an intraday low at 4.31 to the euro, but afterward recouped some of the losses and at around GMT1000 traded at 4.3045/4.3065 to the euro.
Elsewhere in the region, the Hungary’s forint was gaining 0.6% versus the euro, while the Polish zloty was up 0.2%.
On the money market Wednesday, overnight rates fell slightly to 2%-2.5% a year, from 2.1%-2.6% a year in the previous day.
