Romania May Private Lending +1.2% On Month
Romanian private lending rose 1.2% in real terms to 203.11 billion lei (EUR1=RON4.2234) in May from the month earlier, central bank data showed Thursday.

Private loans in Romanian leu decreased 0.3% on the month to RON78.07 billion in May, whereas hard currency loans rose 2.4% to RON125.03 billion. When expressed in euros, forex lending increased by 1.1% compared with April.
In May compared with the year-earlier month, private lending fell 2.3% in real terms, due to an 8.7% decline in leu-denominated loans, the central bank said.
Deposits of non-government resident customers rose 8.4% on the year to RON168.4 billion in May, while government credit was up 53.5% on the year to RON53.18 billion.
