Donciu told MEDIAFAX that proposals to resume air traffic were made, as the volcanic ask cloud is dispersing, adding that, if these proposals are approved, airports will be reopened.
"It is likely that airports in Iasi, Suceava, Bacau, Constanta and Tulcea will be reopened by Tuesday morning, said Donciu, adding the airport in Targu Mures might resume operations Monday evening.
The Romanian Government's committee for emergency situations decided Monday to open eight more airports, namely the two near Bucharest (Otopeni and Baneasa) and the ones in Craiova, Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu, Oradea, Satu Mare and Baia Mare.
Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc warned that the airports' reopening does not mean passengers are able to travel to any country and advised travelers to check their destination with the companies which issue tickets.
Air traffic over Romania has been halted since Saturday afternoon, due to the approach of a volcanic ash cloud caused by an eruption in southern Iceland.
