"Given the economic situation overlapping with the political crisis, my option remains that the major priority is a treatment against the economic crisis. The political crisis is added to the economic crisis by the parties, who acted irresponsibly," Basescu said.

The head of state added that, in these conditions, his option for prime minister is "someone with a background in economy and with experience" in relations with banks and international economic and financial institutions.

"My option would be a prime minister who would have the ability to coordinate all the ministries and institutions in charge with achieving our obligations especially in relations with the International monetary Fund and the European Union. The IMF and EU agreements are not solely the responsibility of the Ministry of Finance, other elements included being the salary conditions, the restructuring of the state apparatus, meeting requirements in the pension system, European fund absorption," the head of state added.

Basescu said that without the two rounds of funding from the IMF and the EU, in November and December there could be difficulties. "We could become unable to pay salaries and pensions, since today, the Constitutional Court postponed the law for which the government took responsibility and which aimed to achieve savings through the obligation of unpaid ten-day vacations in the public sector. This puts us in difficulty. Our primary crisis is the economic one, and the political crisis needs to be solved with consideration for an economic crisis solution," Basescu concluded.
