Romania Needs Better Governing On All Levels – President

He added Romania is among the countries with the highest level of corruption, which “goes to show the country is not yet well governed”.

 

The president also said Romanian public administration should rely more on expertise and consultancy.

 

“Our administration doesn’t use expertise,” he said.

 

Basescu stressed the need to speed up the decentralizing of public administration and the reorganization of local administration structures.

 

The president said another priority for the country is its healthcare system.

 

“We have the highest child mortality rate,” Basescu said, adding life expectancy in Romania is below the EU average.
