"I leave with the certainty we will find solutions to the best interest of both parties, on the behavior of Austrian investors to Romania, as well as on the manner in which Romania could enable the subsequent development of Austrian companies with businesses in Romania," Basescu said in a press statement on Henri Coanda International airport, before he departed for Austria.
Basescu said the main focus of talks in Vienna will be “economic issues fueled by the international financial crisis, which most certainly affect the two countries."
Austria ranks second among the investors on the Romanian market, dominating sectors such as banking, insurance and industry.
Basescu added that other important topics of discussion are the issue of valuing the tourist and transport potential of the Danube Delta, and the intergovernmental agreement on the Nabucco pipeline project.
Basescu is on an official visit to Vienna at the invitation of his counterpart Heinz Fischer. He is accompanied by the central bank governor Mugur Isarescu, the economy minister Adriean Videanu, the minister of tourism Elena Udrea and the minister of foreign affairs Cristian Diaconescu.
