Romania Opens Investigations Into Romanian Envoy To Chile’s Car-Crash Case
Romanian criminal prosecutors Thursday have started investigations into the case of Romanian ambassador to Chile Valentin Florea, who was involved in a car accident in Santiago de Chile on July 12.

Prosecutors said in a press release the Romanian diplomat is investigated for injuring a 28-year-old Chilean businessman, after their cars collided.
Romania's Foreign Affairs Ministry said Thursday the investigations started by Romanian prosecutors in the case of Florea are not yet affecting the ministry's work relations with the Romanian envoy.
The ministry said the institution is running is own inquiry into the case, adding authorities are also waiting for the results of investigations carried out by the Chilean police.
Florea, who was driving a car belonging to the Romanian Embassy, made a negligent driving maneuver and collided with another car whose driver suffered serious injuries and needed to be hospitalized, said the press release.
According to information released by Chilean public television TV Chile the Romanian ambassador was not detained after the accident and did not undergo alcohol testing.
Chilean authorities said they are taking all necessary measures to inform the Romanian Government on the incident, so that the Romanian authorities should be able to take a decision in the Romanian envoy's case.
