CMR head, professor Vasile Astarastoae, said college officials would notify competent authorities and international bodies on breach of human rights by ministry officials during the investigation, adding college officials would also assume responsibility for their own flaws in the process.

Astarastoae highlighted that college officials would submit relevant papers to peer colleges in the European Union to get a second opinion on the matter, adding all institutions in Romania involved in the case must assume responsibility.

Moreover, the college urged the ministry to thoroughly analyze the functioning of the emergency system within the Slatina hospital.

On Friday night, an investigation commission run by health minister Ion Bazac decided to discharge the executive manager of the Public Health Department in Olt county and the manager of the local emergency hospital, while the hospital’s medical director, as well as other doctors and nurses on duty when the man died, were all sacked.

The 62-year old patient died Thursday after being moved around for four hours between two hospitals in Slatina town without receiving any medical treatment, because of health insurance delays.
