In spite of all the disputes in the public sector, both politicians and public opinion agree on the necessity of reforming the education system so as to be modernized, Basescu said.
“It is an illusion to believe that we can progress as a nation without an efficient education system,” the president said, adding the current education system is not an efficient one as it was shown by all researches made up to this date.
“I know that some would want us to remain at the diagnosis level regarding the education laws, without ever adopting real solutions,” Basescu said, adding that the main argument so much invoked lately was not debating enough on the education laws.
The debates regarding the legislative solutions on the education reform must enter its final stage, the president said.
“Only those that do not truly want the education system to be modernized claim that we must postpone this moment (…)" Basescu said during the debate "Structural Reform of Romanian Society. Modernizing Romania through Education"
