Romanian Cos Cut Benefits, Employees Accept Anything Just To Get Jobs – Survey
The survey, which polled human resources managers and employers, shows the unfavorable economic conditions of the past year has affected the labor market and many companies have had to change their human resources policy to cut costs.
„This policy was implemented by reducing the number of employees, reducing benefits and reducing salaries,” the survey reads.
One of the managers polled explained the power of negotiation has changed compared to two years ago, when employers were pressured to offer motivating and attractive salaries and benefits.
Unlike during past years, employees are now willing to take just about anything, as long as they get a job and, to protect their resources, companies tend to be very careful in choosing the extra-wage benefits they offer employees.
The top two most sought after benefits are health insurance (21.5% of employees in Bucharest and 19.1% of employees in the rest of the country) and subscriptions to private medical clinics (19.3% of employees in Bucharest and 18.8% of employees in the rest of the country). Other wanted benefits, at a difference of about eight percentage points, are voluntary private pensions, life insurance and vacation bonuses.
„Home insurance, voluntary car insurance CASCO, life insurance, asset insurance, private health insurance and voluntary private pensions are among the top financial services respondents find necessary,” the survey reads.
