Romania qualified in the semifinals of the 2007 Women’s Handball World Championship in France after it beat the host Thursday in Paris 34-31 (8-14), after four sets of overtime.

Other matches in the quarterfinal: Germany-Angola 36-33, Russia-Hungary 36-35 and Norway-South Korea 35-24.
 
Romania has already achieved its official objective, securing one of the top four spots, and prepares to take on Russia in the semifinals on Saturday.
 
The winner of the World Championship qualifies automatically for the Olympic Games in Beijing, while teams ranking second through seventh go to pre-qualifying tournaments to be hosted by winners of the second, third and fourth places.
