Romania Ranks 2nd In EU By Indus Orders Growth In May

Romania ranked second in European Union with a 20.2% increase of the industrial new orders on the year in May, while industrial new orders fell by 2.8% in EU states in the same period, according to the Statistical Office of the European Communities, Eurostat.

The highest increases were registered in Denmark, with 24.6%, Romania, with 20.2 and Lithuania, with 17.8%, while the most significant falls were reported by Hungary, with 11.4%, France, with 8.9% and the Netherlands, with 7.5%.

In May 2008 compared with May 2007, industrial new orders fell by 4.4% in the euro area.

In Romania, industrial new orders rose 7% on the month in May, while in EU states, industrial new orders index fell by 3.5% in May 2008 compared with April 2008.
