Romania’s central bank raised its forecast on 2010 inflation to 3.5%, from the previous 2.6% and expects inflation to fall to 2.7% in 2011.

However, the central bank kept unchanged its inflation targets at 3.5% and 3%, plus or minus one percentage point, for 2010 and 2011, respectively.

Annual inflation was 4.74% in December 2009, 0.24 percentage point above the upper limit of the bank’s target range.

In 2009, the inflation peaked in February, when the annual rate was at 6.89%. Afterwards, the annual inflation narrowed for eight consecutive months, touching the lowest level in October, at 4.3%.
