Romania’s Airliner Tarom Gets IOSA Certificate Renewed

The International Air Transport Association, or IATA, extended by two years the operational safety certificate granted to Romania’s state-owned airliner Tarom, the airliner said in a statement Sunday.

“Flight safety is our priority, as well as the engine that propels the company’s operations. For Tarom, the renewal of the IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) certificate represents confirmation that we operate in accordance with the most stringent standards in civilian aviation,” Tarom general manager Gheorghe Birla said.

Tarom was first audited within the IOSA Program in May 2006 and it was included in the IOSA registry early 2007.

In January 2008, Tarom underwent a new audit to have its IOSA certificate renewed.

Tarom has a fleet of 21 aircraft and it transports over 2 million passengers annually to 40 destinations in 25 countries across the globe.

IATA is an international trade body which represents some 240 airlines comprising 94% of scheduled international air traffic.
