Romania’s Ambassador To Moldova Wants EBRD-Backed Romanian-Moldovan Investment Bank

Marius Lazurca, Romania’s new ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, said Tuesday during hearings in the Parliament’s foreign policy committees he wants the creation of a Romanian-Moldovan investment bank with the help of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Lazurca, who was endorsed by foreign policy committees for ambassador to Moldova, said the idea should be analyzed by finance and banking experts.

He said such an investment bank would encourage mutual investments for the neighboring countries and would help make Romania a major investor in Moldova, arguing Romania is currently the ninth largest investor in Moldova.
