Romania’s Auto Market Sees 5th Largest Decline In EU In Jan-Oct 2010
Romania’s car market registered the fifth largest decline in the European Union in the first ten months of 2010, dropping three positions, down to the 17th spot, in terms of new car registrations, the Association of European Carmakers (ACEA) said in a press release Tuesday.

Romania registered 70,629 new passenger cars in the first ten months of 2010, down 26.6% on the year, while the EU auto market fell only 5.5%, to 11.279 million cars, the press release also reads.
New car registrations in Romania rose 9.4% on the year in October 2010, to 8,281 units, while the EU market fell 16.6%, to 1.027 million units.
In 2009, the Romanian car market placed 14th in the EU, with 115,979 new car registrations, and was outranked by Ireland, Finland and Denmark in the first ten months of 2010, according to the press release.
In 2008, Romania placed 10th in the EU, with 285,489 new car registrations. The Czech Republic, Portugal, Greece and Sweden are among the countries outranking Romania since the beginning of the economic crisis.
