Romania’s BCR To Shut Down, Upgrade Card System Saturday Night

Cards issued by Romania’s largest lender, BCR, will not be usable between Saturday at 23:00 and Sunday at 06:00 local time, as the institution will shut down the computer system managing card operations.

"Card transactions will be impossible in this interval, while the ATM and POS network will not be operational," said a press release issued by the bank.

"The system will be shut down for improvement operations," according to the document.

BCR, a member of the Erste Group, is the leading banking organization in Romania, managing assets worth of more than EUR17.5 billion.
