"We will have a problem with next year’s salaries, due to pressures to increase them," Ghizdeanu said, during a round table on market strategies in FMCG sector.
According to him, the salaries in the public sector might rise by 10% in 2009.
The average salary in September, of 1,296 lei (EUR1=RON3.8379), was up 1.5% on month and up 24.6% on the year.
The 20% average salary annual increase in the last four years’ has led to a lack of competiveness of the economic sector, Ghizdeanu added.
End-September, the National Prognosis Commission revised upwards its estimation for the salary growth in the 2008-2013 period, the institution forecasting a monthly wage of RON1,260 this year and of RON1,930 in 2013.
According to Ghizdeanu, Romania might keep a low unemployment rate in 2009 too, if the Government will make karge public investments, mainly in the infrastructure.
"The unemployment rate was of 4% until now and will not exceed 5% next year," he added.
