“We will operate major changes in Romania’s consulate in Chisinau. The first colleagues will soon return home,” Diaconescu said.
Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Alin Serbanescu on Wednesday said a new consul will most likely be appointed in one week, adding the measure is justified by the intensity and the complexity of the activity of the Romanian Consulate in Chisinau. Serbanescu, however, failed to provide further detailes on the matter.
The appointment of the new consul in Chisinau follows the resignation of former consul Ion Nuica on Monday, July 13, after “Curentul” daily posted on its website several photos and footage showing Nuica having intercourse with a woman who “seems” to be an employee with the Romanian consulate in Chisinau.
Serbanescu, however, stressed at that time that Nuica was recalled to Romania last week for reasons unrelated to the respective images.
On July 13, "Curentul" informed on its website that it received a hidden camera footage showing Nuica having intercourse with a "Moldovan woman, not a Moldavian woman from Tecuci." The article said the woman in the respective photos "seems to be an employee with the Romanian consulate in Chisinau."
