Romania’s Dacia To Sell Logan VAN, Logan Pick-Up On 18 New Mkts
The distribution network for the two utility cars will reach 22 markets, Dacia general manager Francois Fourmont said.
He estimated Dacia will manufacture 350,000-400,000 cars in 2009, out of which 75-80% will be exported.
Last year, Dacia exported 55% of its total output, estimated at 230,000 units, Fourmont said.
He said higher demand for its hatchback Dacia Sandero from foreign markets prompted the Romanian carmaker to increase production to 620 units a day.
Dacia currently manufactures 1,350 cars a day.
Fourmont said Dacia sales in France should reach 100,000 units over the next two to three years. For 2008, Dacia expects sales of some 50,000 cars in France, up 50% from 33,000 cars delivered a year ago.
In 2009, Dacia Sandero sales should outgrow the ones of Logan MCV model in France, as the French prefer hatchbacks, Fourmont said.
As to the German market, Dacia will rely on its MCV model to boost sales, Fourmont mentioned.
