Romania’s Def Min Remains Justice Interim

"Nothing whatsoever was discussed in the meeting today (Monday – e.n.) regarding my nomination for justice minister. I‘m still the interim," Melescanu said after the party’s leading office meeting.

 

Liberal leader Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu said Friday he would first analyze the motivation published in the country’s Official Gazette regarding the rejection of Norica Nicolai for the ministry, and only then would he make a decision about the vacant position.

 

The motivation of the Court decision regarding rejected justice minister candidate Nicolai was published in the Official Gazette Friday.

 

Liberal party leaders agreed two weeks ago to appoint Melescanu for the position of justice minister and senator Radu Stroe for that of defense minister.
