Power output grew to 2.2 million tons of oil equivalent in January, while the country’s power resources reached 3.56 million toe in the same period, the INS said.
The decrease in the power resources was due to a 17.8% decline in imports in January, the INS said.
Romania’s energy capacity continues to be mostly thermal, with output dropping 8.4% in January from the corresponding period a year ago. Hydropower output stood at 504 million kilowatt-hour in January, 52.8% higher than over the corresponding period last year.
Electric power resources rose 13% on the year in January to 6.3 million KWh on power output increases, while electric power consumption rose 6.2% on the year to 4.7 million KWh in the same period.
Power exports rose 73.5% to 244.6 million KWh in January compared with the year-earlier period.
