Some 150 employees of the ArcelorMittal unit refused to start work Wednesday morning and protested for two hours claiming part of them were not clocked in during the strike in April, although they did work.
Employees also said they didn’t receive the wage hike they were promised and the raise was recorded as a downpayment for vacations.
A delegation of employees met at noon with the management, which promised to compensate the losses claimed. Union leaders said employees are still discontent, as the management didn’t say when it would grant the compensations. Employees threatened to resort to further protests unless they receive their money in a few days.
In April, the Solidaritatea union, which represents 3,500 of the company’s 14,500 employees, triggered a general strike, which the court deemed illegal after two days.
