Romania’s March Net Salary Up 6.9% M-M To RON1,509

The gross average salary was at RON2,074 in March, up 6.9% compared with the previous month.

The net salary in March was slightly up on the month as employees were given occasional loyalty bonuses and a higher output was reported.

Employees in the brokerage sector saw, in March, the biggest average net salaries of RON4,345, while the hotel and restaurants' employees were at the opposite pole, with RON794.

March net average salary in agriculture was up 2.8% on the month, at RON1,055, while the employees in the energy sector saw a 13.3% salary increase on the month in March, to RON2,633.

Net salaries in industry averaged RON1,441 in March, up 10.4% from February.

Employees in the tobacco manufacturing industry saw a 35.1% salary hike on the month in March, at RON4,059.

The average net salary in Romania rose 7.6% on the year in March.
