Romania’s New Criminal Code To Take Effect In March-June 2013

Impact studies suggested March-June 2013 as a reasonable period for the codes’ implementation. The Justice Ministry will propose March 1, 2013 as the due date, through the law on the codes’ application, said Predoiu.

In the run-up to March 2013, the authorities need to fill certain vacant positions and expand employment structures, close down courts hampered by insufficient personnel and outfit other courts with necessary equipment.

The new Civil Code entered force on October 1, 2011. Predoiu announced Thursday that the new Civil Procedure Code will take effect on June 1, 2012.
