EU Should Financially Support Nabucco Proj- MEP Daianu

The European Union acknowledged the construction of gas pipeline Nabucco as a EU project, reason for which it should financially support this project, member of the European Parliament Daniel Daianu said in a statement Monday.

Daianu said that despite the EU support, the Nabucco project cannot be financially supported, as the EU has divergent opinions on the priorities at electric power level.

Nabucco project aims to supply natural gas from the Caspian Sea to Central Europe via Turkey and Romania, bypassing Russia.

The consortium interested in investing in the Nabucco pipeline project is made of Austria’s OMV AG (OMV.VI), Hungary’s MOL, Romania’s Transgaz, Bulgaria’s Bulgargaz, Turkey’s Botas, and Germany’s RWE.
