Romania aims to join the Schengen Area in March 2011, but some European Union member states are skeptical about its capacity to join the Area in the spring of 2011.
The Bucharest Airports National Company said in a press release Tuesday the evaluation team made up of auditors from ten Schengen member states assessed on Monday the technical measures taken to separate the passenger flow intra and extra Schengen on the Henri Coanda airport.
According to the source, the evaluation report to be drawn up by the team will be released next month.
The Schengen experts will also visit the „Traian Vuia” Airport in Timisoara and two border crossing points at Moravita, Timis County (western Romania).
This is the only re-evaluation requested so far in the Schengen accession process. The final evaluation, which will take place between December 6 and December 10, 2010, will relate to the Schengen Information System and the Supplementary Information Request at the National Entry (SIRENE).
